WTF Tumblr you are awful

I came across a picture of me and auntiemeesh from DragonCon... except it's just oblique links to reblogs from Tumblr? When I click through to try and find the post itself all it does is a Tumblr search for keywords that are the name of the tumblr blog? What the ever loving hell. How do I find the actual post? This is worse than trying to find shit on Pinterest. I don't get this version of the internet at fucking all.

I think the original post may no longer exist, which is why all you're finding is links to cached tag search results. It would also explain why searching for phrases in the results set Google displays is yielding still more Tumblr tag search results.

Yeah... I suppose nothing ever dies completely from the Internet, but sometimes it just leaves a few cached results behind to the frustration of others.

that is very annoying! i had a quick look and failed to find it either - hopefully someone else who knows how to work tumblr can find it for you. that's very annoying anyway.

Thanks! Yeah, really frustrating. I have not found a lot of pictures of us from this past DragonCon, and then I found one and was like "cool!" and then couldn't actually get to the link!

No worries - your link showed the image should've come up under the tag 'The Jokey' but wasn't. I just used the filters on that tag search for both 'Most Recent' and a 'Photo' post and then CTRL-F'd I suspect this to get to the relevent Tumblr post, close to the bottom of the page.

I couldn't even figure out how to do a tag search! It was so confusing. Thanks for your help. Now I have a tumblr account with exactly one reblog post so I can tell them that yes, that outfit is from Doctor Who, as is auntiemeesh's as well :D

I don't like any sites that don't have pages in them. Where it's just that the page itself gets longer and longer and longer... ugh. CNN.com just changed their site to look more like these Web 3.whatever things and I hate it. I'm not going back until they change it to something reasonable.

At one point, you had the option of a 'page', but then Tumblr removed that option (as far as I can see). My computer objects highly to their format and after a few crashes, freezes and spastic tremors from my laptop (which was only a year old when this shit started happening), I gave up. The giving up on Tumblr was made easier by a) never being able to find a 'reference' to credit for pics, graphics, etc b) Social Justice Warriors on 24/7 freakout and c) spoilersspoilersspoilers. Meh.

Basically, besides the Tumblr asshattery, this is the EXACT reason I quit Tumblr. The endless pages do my wifi no favors and my computer objects to the endless, scrolling code. UGH.

Also, tumblr's search engine is pretty much abysmal for tracking down sources, so don't ever rely on it. You can usually backtrack from Google results by trawling through the tag section (ie, /tagged/the+jokey) and then filter for only pictures. It doesn't always work, especially if the particular tag is very generic/very popular.
