Yoinks and away!
Sep. 6th, 2014 11:40 pmAh, I am going to have to start watching with subtitles! There were still a few Capaldi phrases here and there that I didn't catch. But, overall, I think this was an entertaining episode. More arc... the Promised Land again. And I want to say that the Question we should start with is "Promised by who?" Or to whom. (aside, on my Deep breath rewatch I noticed at te very end Missy made this rather chomp-y noise (definitely an effect) and then looked like she was gaining energy from... something. Maybe she's a vampire.)
I don't have much to say about this one except I like how Twelve has this extremely childish streak to him... not silly like Eleven, but more truly childish; less an affectation as just his personality. I loved his bickering with Robin and the argument about who would die last... "Admit it, you know it would be me". He's got a bit of a One Plus Four vibe going I think. And awwww he fights with a spoon for the TARDIS!!! Be still my shipper heart! :D
The gold circuits reminded me of pyroviles from the fires of Pompeii; they were also making circuits. (OMG and peter Capaldi was in that episode too... it must be some super-secret convoluted Giant Moffat Plan! ... um. Okay. Not holding my breath on that one.) Oh, and I love how capable Clara is with bad guys. She's had two out of three eps where she squares off with them and comes out ahead. Good for her!
ETA: I should also say before I forget, that the design of the robots was fantastic.
Next week looks intriguing, and possibly scary.

There was this one whole line from the Sheriff that I didn't catch at all, and it was said slowly and with grandeur, so you know it was important, except I couldn't understand him. I'll have to re-watch it with the closed captioning on.
the Question we should start with is "Promised by who?"
Now that is a very interesting question!
I agree that Twelve was sulky and childish in this, but I kind of liked it. He still gives off a very Six vibe for me, but it really worked in this episode. A Doctor who got along with Robin Hood wouldn't have been nearly as much fun.

ETA: And by the power of the Internet, The whole thing!

Date: 2014-09-07 02:05 pm (UTC)Also, I may seem weird here - everyone keeps going on about how old he is, but - whatever. He is the sexiest Doctor since Tom Baker - at least for me. Seriously - the man has such a beautiful and expressive face. I love him. \\\0///

Date: 2014-09-07 02:48 pm (UTC)I suppose it is because I have grown up with Capaldi as a presence on British tv, and I love Scottish accents. But I have always had a crush on him.
Andwow, fighti g for Tardis with a spoon! Hilariously funny and sexy at the same time.
Especially when Robin pushed him in the water. I love men in wet clothes.

Date: 2014-09-07 02:28 pm (UTC)Yes, the spoons bits were ace (how else could I describe a Scottish Dr with spoons) and a little Monty Python Holy Grail-ish.
I could understand everyone fine, although I'm not Scottish I'm used to the brogue.

Yeah, she was great! I loved her outfit, too.

Date: 2014-09-08 02:55 am (UTC)This episode reminded me a lot of The Androids of Tara. I kept waiting for a callback that never came.
I have to say, I like Clara a lot more as a companion of Twelve than Eleven. She seems to be more of her own person (and a fairly strong and independent person) and less of The Impossible Girl.

Good thing to note!

Haven't seen Four but I agree besides! :D
