Guys, if the 50th anniversary special were only "The Night of the Doctor" and this, I would still be 100% satisfied. At some point I will write about the real special but OMG this was too fantastic. I kept having to pause it to laugh.

ETA: who were the folks at the very beginning? Ah, it took me until right now to realize that the woman was the shapeshifter mom with kids in "The Eleventh Hour".

Wasn't it great? I am really, really hoping it gets put on a DVD, because I need to own it so I can watch it again whenever I need a laugh. Peter Davison is a comic genius.

I saw the Wikipedia entry on it (I was looking for reaction posts), and apparently the guy at the beginning was Sean Pertwee -- Jon Pertwee's son. The woman was Olivia Coleman, who was indeed the shapeshifter mom. She was also David Tennant's co-star in Broadchurch.

Thanks for the info! And yeah, I literally had to stop watching to laugh after the whole "calling Tom" bit and McGann's "Whatever you're planning, I'm in" bit. Oh my goodness.

It was awesome! I loved the security guards, after getting all their autographs. "Any sign of 'em?" "Uh, no not yet. I did meet three awesome blokes, though." "Three!?" *deflated groan/sigh*

I <3 the fact that Peter Davison is writing comedy genius RPF about himself. It deserves a DVD. If nothing else, it should be an extra or an Easter Egg when the Day of the Doctor is released.

Favourite bits: Paul McGann being all shifty. Sylvester McCoy and Colin Baker quoting themselves for an entire conversation. John Barrowman's, "You do realize they film in Cardiff?"

Most eh, what now?? bit: was that supposed to be John Barrowman's wife and kids? But doesn't he have a husband? Was this an in-joke? Also, were those kids with Peter Davison his grandchildren, or what... I do not understand.

I think the Barrowman thing was completely fake--which was an oddity in that the rest of the families were actual family members, I do believe. Colin Baker has some beautiful daughters ;) It was just supposed to be that he was a "closeted family man" and it was taken as scandalous as the other way around.

It was a joke because Barrowman is so famously gay - so seeing the wife and kids was why the three Doctors were so stunned. The two kids are Peter Davison's sons. (This is the point where I realise I have listened to all the Davison commentaries more than is sensible. He's always talking about them on them, especially if Janet's around, as she's godmother to one of them. They used to like watching Doctor Daddy when they were small, but now they prefer David Tennant and Matt Smith.) He was married to Sandra thingy with the odd, helium voice (Trillian in the original Hitch-Hiker's), who is Georgia Moffett's mother, but they broke up in the 80s, and he married someone else much later, so that's why the two boys are quite young. (I assume they were his actual sons; it would be odd if they weren't.)

I can't decide what to giggle at most, but LOL at Janet being the voice of his worst nightmares. (Peter and Janet are ridiculous and I love them. ♥)

Davison's kids... they looked like twins! Except one was a few years older. Very conventionally cute kids, like they are prime "perfect family kids" for toy commercials and such.

It was amazing: I laughed and was nearly trembling with joy. Watched it with someone who doesn't care but knows a little about Who and the actors especially. We were screaming with joy.

I'm not quite sure which moment made me giggle the most. Barrowman being "outed", Moffat getting way too much into his action figures, or McCoy: "I'm in breach of contract! My film career is in tatters!" Or RTD at the end, quite possibly.

Or the bit with Jenna Coleman: "You were my mum's favourite" (Hurried rewind) "You were my favourite."

Or Matthew Waterhouse: "Now I'll never know if I was right!"

Just fantastic stuff and if my admiration for Davison and just about everybody else involved wasn't sky-high already, it would be even higher now.

I thought the whole scene with Peter Jackson and Ian McKellan was pretty hilarious too.
