EleventyFest is live and revealed!

Hey, hello LJ, I have been writing like mad for two days! Imagine that!

EleventyFest is finally all revealed and it's been an absolute blast. I received two wonderful stories that I can post about now with thanks to the writers:

Sirvalkyrie wrote me TARDIS in Temur Amber (Eleven, Amy, Rory, rated G) for my prompt request of what happens if the Doctor's psychic link to the TARDIS is cut off. They came up with an imaginative way that it might happen and set a surreal and spare tone with the story.

And a bonus! nancybrown wrote me Uncharted Territories (Eleven/River, PG) in response to my request for River and the Doctor exploring the TARDIS on a night in. It's a gorgeous piece with perfect characterization and effortless dialogue. I said in the comments I love how the TARDIS mirrors their own possibilities; infinite but bounded, a relationship whose end points are defined and contained, but the middle, the "bigger on the inside" part, has yet to be explored. This had such an air of sadness but also of love and living each day as it comes.

So you should go read those, and heap praise on the authors.

Also, I wrote some things! I will link to them on AO3 as I've yet to cross-post and archive. All links present now:

Sirvalkyrie and I actually swapped gifts. I wrote Paths To Glory [(LJ)|(AO3)|(Teaspoon)] for her request of a backstory for Strax. 1167 words, rated G. The fiercest warriors know their sons.

We were also encouraged to submit treat stories for whatever prompts took our fancy from whatever authors So,

For nonelvis I wrote Still Life [(LJ)|(AO3)|(Teaspoon)], on her request for The Eye of Orion, or wherever the TARDIS took them after the events of The Doctor's Wife. 920 words, rated G. "The most tranquil place in the universe, and you're lamenting a lack of ungulates."

For radiolaires I wrote Concentration of Measure [(LJ)|(AO3)|(Teaspoon)] for her request of Eleven/River, the TARDIS and learning to trust. 230 words, rated G. Trust is information. Information is the inverse of variance. The TARDIS must learn how to understand River Song.

And for clocketpatch I squeaked in under the wire this afternoon with The Hump Day Party Mix [(LJ)|(AO3)|(Teaspoon)] for her request of Eleven and Clara having an adventure. 3997 words, rated G. Shuffle. Record. Rewind. Play.

Also also, I did a podfic treat. For tessa_maeve I read Two Is Better Than One for her request of the AU adventures of Eleven and Little Amelia in the world where he wasn't twelve plus two years too late. Original text is a set of seven short stories by wuhdemah, here on Teaspoon.

I'm glad you had fun. It does seem to have been a lovely fest and hopefully I'll get enough brain to poke around a bit more, because I like all the things I have been able to read.

I knew it wasn't going to stay anon for long. The fest mods actually put off the reveal for a little bit so I could get it in b/c I was emailing them going, 'aaaaaa I have one more thing to add!' And last week I was like, "I'll write a ficlet for Clocketpatch" and this week I'm frantically finishing up the last of 4000 words.

Ha, yeah, I picked a prompt from my official gift that didn't actually have any Eleven in it, and I was going to write him eventually in the story but then that story got shortened to just part 1 of my original plan. I still felt like writing Eleven and was thinking of claiming some of the pinch hits that came around but missed out on them. So I had a list of various prompts I was going to try to get to for treats. I still have an idea for a really alien planet for astrogirl2 and an outsider POV for Juniperphoenix but didn't get to them.

Both treat ideas sound really good! Are you thinking of writing them still?

Yes, the Strax one. I had another bit where he crash-lands on a planet caught in between the Rutan/Sontaran fronts and then actually finds refugees to care for and comfort, and finds the Doctor doing the same thing because don't his holidays always end up like that?... and then how the Doctor saves his life is because he works out that one of Strax's "wards" is a Rutan in disguise (Rutans & shape-shifting: they do that), and of course Strax is saved but is dishonored because he harbored an enemy (even unknowingly) and has to commit to becoming a nurse because his hands have been tainted by saving people... But I only got through part 1. :)

the other treat ideas; I will keep them on the back burner for now. I have two WIPs that I want to focus on for a while. That's the bit about EleventyFest lasting so long that kind of hit me; I had expected to be done with it and ready to focus on other things by at most the end of the first week in September, and it was fun to keep going for a bit longer but it also meant I was leaving my WIPs untouched for a while. But that's just me; I have a very one-track fannish brain.

Oh, that's a great bit! And Rutans! I don't think I've seen a fic with Rutans before. Actually, I don't think I've seen anything with Rutans except The Horror of Fang Rock, so it's nice that they got some attention. It sounds like it would have been very long, though.

The only reason I know anything about them is because they show up in one of the audios :) But yes, long fic was long! Maybe I will finish it some day...

I had a thought you were busy making treats and I pinged the mods before your gift was posted (the very last one! Aa!) and said I wanted to write something for you and they said, "Yes! Write something! Her gift is coming but it's not fic so write something!" And then it took me a week :) I usually bemoan the writing process of whatever I'm doing but I was hush-hush on this one so it would be a surprise. I'm also kind of surprised I finished it and it makes as much sense as it does. I knew where it was going by the middle of the week but I must have written like 2700 words yesterday.

This fest definitely NomNomNom'd my brain too. Though I do have a thought as to what I'll work on next :)

I've been so remiss about keeping up with Eleventy Fest. I haven't even looked at most of the treats yet. But a lot of what I have read has been great.

And, hey, you wrote Strax! Which I read and enjoyed, and have only just now realized I never commented on or anything, because that's just how lame I've been lately. Well, let me tell you now that I liked it, at least. *hugs Strax* :)
