I have a container of strawberries in the fridge that are like 2 weeks old. I think they are still okay but I need to use them. Am thinking of making some kind of strawberry cream cheese bread, or maybe a strawberry angel food cake? I can't really find any angel food recipes that put the fruit in the cake though (would it make it collapse?). Am also thinking of making it gluten free & bringing in to work.

Does anyone have any other suggestions for a container of strawberries that need to be used? Edit: not tonight; I'm soon going to bed tonight ;)

Maybe you could freeze them if you don't find a recipe? Depending on how they look. I think you add sugar when you freeze strawberries.

Strawberry angel foodcake sounds stellar!

Get some rest, sweetie. Maybe it will come to you as you sleep.

If you drink or know someone who does, rinse/stem/halve them, put them in a glass container w/ a lid on it, then pour a bottle of vodka over them and stick them in the back of the fridge for a few days to a week. By then, all the strawberries will have turned white and leeched all their pink berry goodness into the vodka and it will be the most delicious smelling thing EVER. Serve plain over ice, or mixed with seltzer. Cheap vodka is fine for this. Seriously though, the vodka turns bright pink and is so good.

Freeze them. Wash them cut the tops off put them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper then put them in the freezer. Once frozen put in a ziplock bag. They're great for drinks!.

I have a delicious strawberry quickbread recipe if you'd like it. Definitely not gluten free, but you can probably substitute the flour.

Here you go (it's really good with cream cheese):

3 cups unsifted flour
2 cups sugar (I use a little less)
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 (10 ounce) packages frozen strawberries, thawed (or use fresh ones slightly mashed)
1 cup oil
4 eggs

Mix dry ingredients together. Make a hole in the center of the mixture and add thawed strawberries (Remove 1/2 cup juice before adding - less with fresh strawberries). Beat well.

In separate bowl beat together oil and eggs. Add to flour mixture and mix well. I like to add additional sliced fresh strawberries.

Pour into 2 well greased and floured loaf pans. Bake for 1 hour at 325 degrees or until top springs back when touched.

It might work. They have different textures, but could be similar enough. I doubt it would be a disaster and could be very tasty.

What about strawberry ice cream? You could also try a strawberry margarita mousse...

4 cups whole strawberries, hulled
1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons boiling water
4 teaspoons unflavored gelatin
1/4 cup tequila
1 tablespoon triple sec or other orange-flavored liqueur
2 cups plain nonfat yogurt

Preparation

Place strawberries in a blender, and process until smooth. Pour into a large bowl; stir in sugar. Cover and let stand 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Combine boiling water and gelatin in a small bowl; let stand 5 minutes or until gelatin dissolves, stirring constantly. Add the tequila and triple sec, and stir well. Stir the gelatin mixture into the strawberry mixture. Cover and chill for 10 minutes or until the mixture begins to thicken. Add yogurt (at room temperature), stirring with a wire whisk until well-blended. Divide the mixture evenly among 5 margarita glasses or large stemmed glasses; cover and chill at least 4 hours or until set.
