Is YouTube aware of this issue at all? It's driving me up a wall, I hate it so much. Lately I've been trying to hit "report playback issue" when I run into a stuttered and stopped dl, but then that doesn't even go through. Stupid cloud makes video watching impossible. I got the download helper but it should not be the new default to use it every freaking time I want to watch some video content.

Is there a petition somewhere to have them move "estimate delivery speed/time" up on whatever bug-fixing queues they have? Have they been seeing any drop-off in customers or casual watchers or anything? Because I thought it was just me and my slow internet connection before complaining bringing up the issue with LJ and with some of my techie co-workers. It is apparently the fault of "The Cloud", as far as I can tell.

I started doing the "report playback issue" thing, too. And this morning was the first time it didn't go through. So I hope that means people are bombarding them with complaints. Probably not, but I can dream.

I just read out your description of the problem in your other post to Billy, and he said he'd get back to me, which is Billy-speak for "let me escalate that and talk to some folks." NOW, if he ends up getting dragged into fixing it somehow I will be VERY CROSS because he already is working like crazy, but hopefully he will just pass it along. :)

oooh, connections! Thanks :) Sorry my problem description was so vague. It may just be problems on the user end anyhow. Hopefully it's just yet another data point he can pass along to whatever group will say "Yeah, we know and are working on it..."

This can't possibly be the fault of The Cloud. The Cloud is amazing and wonderful and will solve all of society's ills and everyone will have a puppy but you won't need to feed it or clean up its mess because that's all done automagically in The Cloud.

I hope it can be fixed. It seems to be another case of automating something that people themselves would do (wait for the vid to load to a certain point before starting it), and not doing it as well as the people would. (That, basically, is the Story of Data Mining.)
