My mind keeps blanking every time I see bearded!Eleven and then I miss everything else. This is obvious, because I'd missed half the stuff in that frame-by-frame. Thanks for the link!

I want to know why Amy and River both have those scritchy marks. My theory is that they're the same person, somehow...

Yeah, I keep hanging up on imprisoned!Doctor too. The scritchy marks... they show up in the first two episodes, which take place in the US in the 60's. To me they look like tally marks, like they are keeping track of time. Amy also has them in the shot where she screams, which had the look of the creepy-dollhouse (gaiman?) ep but might just be a dark shot from the first two episodes. My guess is, Amy and River have to spilt up, possibly jumping across time tracks, to get the Doctor back somehow, and they keep track of the days by writing them on their skin? Hard to be parted from that, hopefully. Obviously the Doctor spends a while in captivity.

Then again, what confuses me is that I also heard that the next time we saw River, it would be the first time she met the Doctor, but in this 2-parter it looks like they seem to know each other (she shoots the hat off his head anyway). Maybe River is there twice. (?)

Because I've had it in my head for awhile now that River's not so nice as she seems, or she's got some kind of hidden past. Is it possible that she's doubling back on her timeline to rescue Eleventy from herself? *let the mad theorizing commence*

Yeah the opening two eps are the eps that take place in the US in the 60s, and I believe they include the scritchy marks, River in her evening gown in the filming scene where she's facing off against the men in black, the Desert, the Stetson, the Oval Office and the Doctor imprisoned in Area 51.

Huh. While it was nice to see the individual shots, I thinks he's mistaken in some of his "is from this episode" choices (not that it really matters.)

The woman in the dress from the Musketeers' episode looks more like she's dressed as Miss Kitty from Gunsmoke than as someone from the French court, and Rory's outfit from the Musketeers' episode while he's trying to shut the door on the children, is actually a dark shirt or jacket over a plaid shirt (check out the cuffs). Why yes, I am a picky costumer. LOL!

I went back for a second look - she's wearing hoops, not panniers, and it looks like there's a wagonwheel (lighting fixture?) handing from the ceiling, AND there are strands beads or bobbles hanging down on the right-hand side of the page.

Heeee. Man. I WEAR A STETSON NOW. STETSONS ARE COOL. I keep thinking that running gag will get old, and it just keeps not getting old. Eleven in a cowboy hat is basically the greatest thing EVER.

Thing is, Eleven actually DOES look cool in a Stetson! Not so much the fez or the top hat, but the Stetson frames his face really well.

I wonder how long he's in captivity, and I also wonder if the Area 51 scene is before or after the Oval Office scene. I'm betting Area 51 comes before, actually. Like, the silly Americans have finally figured out that the Doctor can help them... maybe they should let him out and listen to what he has to say?

And what is it with long imprisonment stints? I just got done listening to the Demons of Red Lodge and other stories, and poor Fivey spent a good long time of the third story in either solitary (6 month stretch! Ouch!) or a very slow-moving time field. He says something like "I've lost track of time, which is a new and unnerving feeling". Poor Doctor! And I think the next Eight and Lucie audio coming out also deals with the Doctor having to spend quite a while (6 years) in one place.

The frame-by-frame screencaps are cool - I think some of their analysis is a bit off. Madame de Pompadour, for instance, was about a century later than those blokes with the swords - even if they're not Three Musketeers-type-musketeers, they look 17thC to me. Not sure about the boss man's wig, though...that looks a bit later than the guards' costumes... Could be wrong, though. Could be very wrong. Not my period, guv! XD

Is the Area 51 ep confirmed to be in the 60s? I was trying to get a look at the soldiers' uniforms in the scene in the hangar, to try and confirm, but the glare from the lights... They looked kind of retro in green, though. And the MIBs' suits kind of scream 60s at me. Which is only right and proper - it was the heyday of the conspiratorial Military-Industrial Complex after all. Not sure they would have had a black guy guarding the President back in those days, but the NuWhoniverse is sometimes pleasingly inclusive compared to rl (and sometimes isn't), so who knows?

The main thing I've drawn from this though is that the dolls story and the thing with the drawing on Amy's/River's skin (are they the same story?) looks like it will give me nightmares... Excellent! XD

From what I have read, it is. They say so at Den of Geek and they sound authoritative. Also if you look at the scene that is the wide view from Amy almost falling off the cliff or whatever, you can see the cars in the background look like 60s and not earlier models.

Ah, good. And yeah, squinting at the cars in that picture I think you're right. One thing that did interest me greatly, though - was that the mysterious time machine from The Lodger again, looking more TARDIS like than ever? That's intriguing, because I thought the non-explanation of that was one of the big loose ends left from S5...
