There is a little orange cat who has been hanging out around our house for a few months now. He is very friendly but seems a bit neglected. His fur is thin, and I checked him out today when I was feeding him and he's got a bunch of ticks on him :( I'm thinking about corralling him and taking him to the vet's to get checked out but I don't know if he belongs to anyone around here or not.

Maybe I will do an informal neighbor survey tomorrow to see if anybody claims him. I wonder if anyone of my friends would want a friendly kitty; I'd be loathe to take him to the humane society if they didn't think they could find him a home. My kitties have already growled and hissed their heads off after seeing him outside on the patio. I don't know if they would welcome a new addition to our house.

ETA: I talked with one of my neighbors from up on the hill and he says he doesn't think anybody up there is missing a cat. He says our hill is full of strays (he's found feral litters before) and he thinks maybe the orange cat is an offspring of a stray calico he'd seen around last year. We saw the same stray calico too; she had half a tail and was pretty recognizable. And the little orange guy looks pretty young. Maybe I'll see if I can get him in a carrier to get checked out. I am worried about those ticks :(

Poor lil cat... I would do the same - check if he belongs to anyone, give him some food in the meantime, and if no one seems to own him, take him to the vet. I would be the same shoes - my own cat wouldn't let a strange one around, so I couldn't keep another even for a little time.

Poor little guy. If I wasn't already housing Maggie, I'd take him on, but I think four in my tiny apartment would put me irrevocably on the Crazy Cat Lady side of the line. :(

clocketpatch: A small, innocent-looking red alarm clock, stuck forever at 10 to 7. (Kitty stalk and capture)

Poor little guy. I hope he has a change of fortune soon.
