Post-con redux

Well, it's been a week and I'm getting back to normal. Allergies galore for some reason, but no con crud or anything like that. My dress survived the trip, survived lots of wear, except the eyelets on my corset that were subject to some more... ah, moist, areas, rusted. RUSTED! I'm going to have to replace them. Anyway the dress mostly survived the dry-cleaners. Though it did lose the last hook from the hook and eye, and I have to re-do some duct taping (or you know, sew it better in those spots). The dry cleaner woman was a bit flummoxed at how to classify some things ("corset? Um, I'm gonna put it in as a 'vest'" "Bum roll. Yes, that's the official name...").

Anyway, I'm working on a full con report but in the meantime I have a gallery up of pictures up here. ETA: I should also say that lj does not do thumbnails well for galleries. I really didn't cut all those heads off in the pics; it just never shows the whole picture in the preview forn\ some reason.

Where did you get your parasol? I'm pretty sure that yours is the exact same one I always used for Boardwalk Empire and I always loved that prop.

I got it off of ebay from Hong Kong. It's not the exact one from the episode, but it's close enough. The ones from the episode were available (auntiemeesh I think has the exact one), but they were a little more expensive. It was a fun prop.

Rusted?! AIIIGH, you have my sympathy. And, oh, wow, that 10 with the alien wasp on his back is fantastic! So is Iron Man's glowing chest thingy.

I have to go to one of these things someday.

Yeah, Iron Man crashed the zombie prom; it was a cool outfit though :) There were a lot of great Who costumes this year. I think the Ten with the bee is also the same Ten who is partnered with the Sally Sparrow with the Weeping Angel on her back in one of the later pictures too :)

Meep - this reminds me of the time I sent my sister's beautiful hand-embroidered hobbit bodice to the dry cleaners via my father. He came back and said, "Well, they're going to clean it, but they think they may have to partially disassemble it to do so."

You've never seen anyone drive to a dry cleaners so fast! Fortunately I was able to rescue it.

It was lovely getting to see so much of you at the con!

Yipes! Yeah, I knew dry cleaning was a gamble but I gave it a shot. It was relatively unscathed afterward, and I should be able to fix the bits that didn't quite make it. Still it's a bit nerve-wracking. Also the lady at the counter kept telling me I should sew things professionally and make some money off of it. She just didn't get why I wasn't interested in doing that :)

It was a lot of fun to hang out with you and maypanic! I loved all the folks who just came up and wanted a picture of all of us in our dresses-- spanning about 300 years of history or so. Also several alien species though they'd never guess that...
