Two pics, one with lace and one with gimp trim:

(The trim is actually metallic gold mixed with black; it's just hard to see in this pic/light)

I'm still not sure-- I think I like the shape of the trim better but the color of the lace better. On the other hand, it looks like the trim will do a better job of concealing the hook/eye tape through the gap. Hm.



Now it's 20 til 3; I should really go to bed.

Yeah, I think I'm leaning toward the lace too. It's a bit of a subtler contrast. ETA: on the other hand, the trim does a better job of covering up the gap left by the hook/eye tape. Though I think I can do a better job putting the lace on to cover the gap (it was just quickly pinned in these pics).

Lace is prettier. Do you prefer hiding hardware or appealing aspect?

Well, there are still buttons to add on the top that should obscure the hooks and eyes. I could also experiment with using the lace all the way through and also just using the gimp trim around the closures.

Hmm...the lace matches the insides of the cuffs, but the gimp is more subtle and somehow fits better. I think I'd vote for the gimp, but it's very hard to pick one over the other.

thanks for the input. I might try using lace down the whole facing but also using the gimp trim on the bodice over the hooks and eyes... um, if I have time... ;)
