But here's a roundup of the rest of my thoughts about the Pandorica Opens, though not quite a play-by-play (I didn't have notepad open at the bottom of the screen whilst watching, for this one...)

River's escapades in the beginning were great. I especially love her picture on the wall after breaking out of prison with her hallucinogenic lipstick. That really has its uses, doesn't it?

Not as many good one-liners in this one, but the ones that I liked were:

"I hate good wizards in fairy tales, they always turn out to be him."

"Never ignore a coincidence. Unless you're busy, in which case always ignore a coincidence." Heh, reminds me of his line from Amy's choice: "Never use force! You just embarrass yourself. Unless you're cross in which case, always use force!"

Also: "Never underestimate a Celt." hah! They beheaded (and disarmed) a cyberman!

Speaking of which, loved the new creeptastic cyberman, ha! Equal parts absurd and scary, just as Doctor Who should be.

I also like the canonical use of Autons. The fact that they don't know who or what they are until they are "activated" is actually prior canon, from eg the Eighth Doctor BF story Brave New Town. Each Auton has a tiny bit of the Nestene Consciousness inside it, but doesn't act like an Auton until it can feel the signal emanated from the whole. And it's funny because I remembered hearing that Autons were on the list of baddies to show up this episode but I'd forgotten. So the Auton reveal came as a complete surprise to me.

Though now I'm wondering, how did Auton Rory get memories from when Rory traveled with Amy and the Doctor. If they used Amy's house, they would have only picked up the barest remnant of who he was before he left... and even then he was erased from time, so he only showed up in photos. *handwave*

Although... the Doctor's getting sentimental in his old age. Instead of being put on his guard about the appearance of Rory, he waxes about miracles (even though he's never seen one) and lets it slide. Amy's favorite history subject, Amy's favorite book, Amy's dead and erased boyfriend... if he were Four or Seven he would have figured it out. Miracles don't happen, really they don't. No matter what the story books say.

And the Doctor really doesn't look like he's fighting the Auton's grip much after he gets captured, does he? And what with the budget you'd thingk they would make the giant steel-looking chair thing actually MOVE like steel. Instead of, you know, cardboard. *sighs*

That music, like a requiem at the end, really was quite good, wasn't it? And River's final opening of the doors... to a solid wall, and the look on her face as she delivered a simple apology: "I'm sorry, my love" -- oh man, it is basically hurting more each time I watch it.

I don't think Amy will stay dead. Whether it's a straight reset button or something else (is she a construct as well?), we still don't know much about her.

In other news, I also had a theory about these last two episodes and how the finale is going to play out and stuff, but it has now been influenced a bit by my looking at some spoilery pictures for The Big Bang so I will post it later on under its own cut tag with warnings for spoilery things yet to come.

"I hate good wizards in fairy tales, they always turn out to be him."

That was honestly one of my favourite DW lines ever. It's perfect. :D

Thank you for putting your picture-influenced theories in another post! Most people are nowhere near that considerate. ♥
