Just read a wonderful post about Canada's love affair with hockey. Seriously, it is cool, and there are Tim Horton's commercials and in the comments there is The Sweater Story, which is apparently required reading up North :D

Grinning like a loon. Also going out to Ladies pickup hockey night tonight. Whee!

I made the mistake of wandering over to the IIHF World Championship site, there was an article blasting all the NHL (and European leagues) players who chose not to participate in the World Championship after getting kicked out of the playoffs. Apparently, being 'tired' or 'injured' are not acceptable excuses if the player was willing to continue playing playoff hockey, and all these players owe a debt of honor, etc, to their national federations and should feel an obligation to play if they're invited, no matter how they're feeling. They made sure to mention Sid by name.

I like the article you found much better. I think I should have been born Canadian, because I'd be totally happy being surrounded by others who thought hockey was as important as I think hockey is, plus, Tim Horton's.

There is actually a Tim Horton's relatively close to my house (about a 20 minute drive). It involves driving down into a big ravine and crossing a rickety bridge into Ohio, then it's right next to the Tractor Supply company. :D

Next time you're up my way we should totally go there.

Maybe we can form Canada South? I'm ready. Hockey, Tim Horton's and "Oh, Canada" (a way better national anthem than The Star Spangled Banner). Oh, and a state run medical system that actually works.

It was punishing, but fun. We only had 5 skaters on our team so we did 4-on-4 with one sub. For an hour. I'm a bit beat today, and tonight I have more hockey!
