Okay, so I've been commenting on others' journals about this and am compiling a list of things in The Eleventh Hour that you think might have been subtle references to earlier eras:

Six: The "Bacon! Are you trying to poison me?" and "Carrots? Are you insane?" lines, reminiscent of Mel and "Carrot Juice!" and in the Twin Dilemma when he thought Peri was going to kill him (luckily no trying to strangle anyone, though!) Also his flippant "they're terrified of wood!"

Four: The rest of the food scene really reminded me of Four, especially "Beans are evil"

Five: Amy smacks him with a Cricket bat! Cricket bat!

Two: "I'm the Doctor; I'm worse than everybody's aunt! ... And that is not how I'm introducing myself" really reminded me of Troughton's "great giddy aunt", and his general friendliness in the trailing line there really seemed very much like Two.

Three and Eight: stealing clothes from a hospital (and keeping them!). I think he made out better this time around though :D

Nine: "Oh that's fantastic, that is. I've got twenty minutes to save the world, and I've got a post office. And it's shut!"

Lots of Ten-isms but particularly: "Do I just have a face that nobody listens to? Again?"

Not too familiar with Seven, but it has been pointed out that Rory's a male nurse, which is very Hex-like :D

Any others anyone can think of?

Can't think of anything specific, but there was something a bit Sevenish about the way he was clearly lying to Amy at the end there...

I think quite a bit of this episode could, if you were in a certain frame of mind, be viewed as an extended Moffat p---take of the episode RTD would have written to introduce Eleven. But that's probably just me being mean to Rusty... :D

Well, I don't know if he was lying about that (and I like to think he didn't intend to just abandon her again), but there was something a little bit...shifty about the way he responded to her question, I thought.

I think there was some Aesthetic references too? I dunno, the new TARDIS struck me as a bit of a merger of several different interiors for the TARDIS merged together. And stuff.

I'm really glad that he used "wibbly wobbly timey wimey" - that's one of my favorite lines.

Cool...and you've made me have good thinky thoughts about just why he won me over in one episode...he was after all, The Doctor. :)

A very fabulous line. And says so much about Amelia. :::bounces::

I hope you're asleep right now...to make up for the not sleeping on the plane. :)
