Dear Supernatural:
Jan. 31st, 2008 09:03 pmOMG DON"T YOU GUYS REALIZE I HAVE TO GO TO THE DENTIST FREAKING TOMORROW, YOU BASTARDS!!!!!
ETA: lol, the CW is so not marketing to me! It's been so long since I've watched broadcast commercials...
This ep gets a big "meh" from me. Clunky pace, wooden dialogue, dunno, just, something seemed not quite ready for prime time in this episode. Plus, the climax involved both our boys stuck to a wall spectating a rather boring demon-chick fight. Bah. When even I notice the crappy pacing, you know the director hasn't done their job well.
I am bored with demon wars. I want more weird shit happening as a result of something other than demons.
On the other hand, Dean's reaction to witches was pretty funny. And of course he feels for the bunny! And oh yeah, he's going to become a demon in hell. Interesting. I think Ruby may have been lying about not being able to help him. Well, anyway, something's going to happen by the end of the season to rescue Dean, right? *sighs*
Next week looks like the Jacob's Ladder of SPN... hopefully they will get the pacing down right.

Date: 2008-02-01 03:31 am (UTC)I agree, the pacing felt off and the plot was clunky. I liked some elements, but on the whole I was disappointed.
I really abhore Ruby as a character. I'm also not a fan of the actor. I liked the big confrontation, but that's about it. I really had to tune her out during her whole "you're going to become a demon, Dean" speech. If I just watched Dean, it was awesome. As soon as I let her whiney little voice weasle into my ears, I wanted to slam my head against things.
How come all the demons want to make Dean's insides rip up? And they really like slamming the boys against walls.
I'm a not a big fan of the demon war either. I find the best Supernatural episodes to be the ones that deal with the brothers, not nessisarily the overall mythical arc of the show. It's not really about demons, it's about Sam and Dean.

Date: 2008-02-01 04:12 am (UTC)It had potential, but I blame the writing (and Ruby) for the episode.

Date: 2008-02-01 03:40 am (UTC)And yeah, they seriously have to save Dean at the end. Can't send him off to hell to become one of the enemy, that would just be too cruel. Although maybe it will be something along the lines of Sam having to rescue him from hell, once he's taken.
And the whole thing with Sammy having to be more like Dean if he's going to survive alone - meh. I understand that, but it works better when it's presented as subtext. It's a case of, once again, the writers tipping their hand a little too overtly to what's going on under the skin.
And boy, for some reason, Sam seemed to loom more in this episode. I realize he's a big guy and he's always been a big guy, but he seemed a lot more massive this week - like he took up a lot more space in the room, for some reason. Weird.
