(copypasta from nonelvis) To get rid of the strip with the Stan Lee ad -- here's how you can turn it off everywhere. Go to http://www.livejournal.com/manage/settings/?cat=extensions, where there will be a checkbox near the bottom of the page reading "bottom information strip." Uncheck the box, and the ad will disappear.

Over on my LJ, garpu just said (and I've confirmed for myself) that the checkbox option is no longer there. I wonder if LJ has rolled back the ad and its supporting code entirely?

I'm not seeing it anymore. I'm guessing the negative feedback was overwhelming (and our current masters seem to pay more attention to their content providers than the previous two owners).

Thanks to eve11 for finding a fix though, because the white bar was rly visually intrusive.
