I missed ten! :D Given that I haven't seen that much of the classics, I'm sooo happy about this ♥ (Missed those from Three to Seven I'd hardly heard about—except for Melanie Bush and Tegan, whose names I'd heard before.)

I haven't seen too many of the really old stories but I have read a lot of fic, and have seen the highlight reel eps for just about every Doctor. There are quite a few of One's companions I've not watched any of their eps (Ben, Polly, Vicki, Steven), but I remembered them. Took me longer to get the names of the UNIT guys. And I did it twice through (nearly immediately) and forgot Harry Sullivan til the very last, both times. I missed Katarina and Sarah Kingdom. I knew there were one-off companions for One but I wrote Cathica instead, though she doesn't count.

I thought River Song might count for both 10 and 11 though, since she did show up in Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead.

I'm a bit similar—One and Two I knew from having seen them or looked them up to know roughly what is coming next,
there are a lot I've seen mentioned really often (Leela, Romana, Nyssa, Adric, Ace…), and of course new!Who. I missed the UNIT guys, too, didn't realize K-9 counted, and there were Tegan and Melanie Bush who slipped my mind, as I mentioned.

Did the website glitch a bit for you sometimes, too? It wouldn't take Clara and Sara for me, I had to type "Oswald" and "Kingdom".

I can understand needing "Kingdom" since "sara" overlaps with "Sarah Jane". But I put in Clara too, and it wouldn't take it until I also added Oswald.

Yeah :( I guess Craig hasn't actually traveled in the TARDIS, it was always the Doctor visiting him. Else you could also have counted Jackie (actually you could almost have counted her), Harriet Jones, Wilf, Lynda with a Y… Astrid and the specials people whose names I can't be bothered to remember… it never ends ;)

It also wouldn't take just "River" either. So I was wondering who the last of 11's companions were until I decided to try "River Song" instead of just "River".

I got them all except Sara Kingdom. Like you, I know a lot of the names solely through fic, or through people talking about them on LJ.

The biggest stumper for me was K-9 -- when I looked back at my blanks, I saw I had a missing Fourth Doctor companion, and I knew I wasn't missing a major one -- he was my first Doctor -- but then I realized that of course it had to be K-9, and it turned out I was right.

I think if I'd not seen Genesis of the Daleks I never would have remembered Harry. I'd heard of Sara Kingdom but didn't realize she counted as a companion. And it took me looking at the extra spot for Nine alone to remember Adam Mitchell.

Oh, go watch more Harry! He's in "Terror of the Zygons," so you could catch up on Zygons and Harry at the same time.

I did exactly the same thing with Adam Mitchell, and Kamelion. And I'd heard of Sara Kingdom, but I didn't remember her; it was more a case of recognizing the name once I asked for the missing answer.

This was far too much fun, hee! I missed Adam (poor Adam, let's discuss at length if he counts or not) and Leela for some reason *hangs head*. Also Grace, deliberately, because the instructions said "no film companions" and I obeyed... I thought they wanted Cass and that I spelled it wrong, lol.

I steadfastly maintain that Adam does not count. If Adam's one trip in the TARDIS makes him a companion, than so are a zillion other people, including, to pick a random example, H.G. Wells. :)

I got them all in 4:38. But some of them were stupid. Like I kept typing 'Clara' and it wouldn't take her. It only took 'Oswald' which makes NO sense. It took me a couple of minutes to remember people like Katarina and Sara Kingdom, and of course, Adam Mitchell. Sheesh.

nice job! I think it may have been programmed before we knew a lot about Clara? But "Clara Oswald" works, so I guess they just wanted both her first and last names. I was a bit flummoxed by that as well. I think it is fan-programmed so it has some glitches. It also wouldn't take just "River" for "River Song"

It was odd the way it took certain names. With the unit guys, I just wrote 'Brigadier", "Benton' and "Yates" and it took it right away. I would argue that Jackie Tyler is more of a companion than Adam ever was though. Sheesh.

I'm just old and started the show with the 4th Doctor, so the hardest ones were before 3!

But Adam is considered to be a Companion? Come on, Jackie showed up in more stories than him and she's not on the list. And what about Wilf? But it's amazing how your brain blanks when you're under a time crunch.

Well, Adam was officially "invited" on to the TARDIS if only for one episode. Jackie stowed away. ETA: well not stowed away; but she got spirited away to Torchwood because the Doctor didn't realize she was on the TARDIS.

Mickey counts as a companion for Ten though. Just not Nine (I guess he didn't travel in the TARDIS until season 2)
