I really enjoyed it too. And I love the actor playing the big game hunter, so I couldn't totally dislike him either.
"I was a little bit annoyed at the McGuffin of Soloman the Pirate "knowing" the Doctor." I'm not sure what you mean. Solomon didn't know the Doctor, he just heard him being called "doctor" and thought he'd lucked into a medical man.
What I'm trying to figure out is if the scans showed up nothing on him because the Doctor fiddled with a couple buttons after he'd first been scanned, or if it had something to do with how he'd been erased last week.
To be fair, the Doctor did give Mr. Filch (hey I've been reading Harry Potter of late, I kept waiting for him to yell "Students out of Bed" all episode) a chance to leave when he mentioned the missiles. Then the guy just figured he was keeping the profits for himself and the Doctor did his "you're dead to me" look and told him "don't ever judge me by your standards.
I love the dad and the trowel and Rory having random space medical kit stuff in his pocket. I even liked how they were color coordinated, although not enough to be twins.
I wondered about Brian not being at the wedding too, but it could work canonically anyway, because just because he may be aware Amy's raggedy doctor showed up at the wedding, he might not have realized the phone box was more than a disappearing/appearing prop but was a spaceship. Yeah, I know. It's a stretch.
