I have been craving dessert-y chocolate-y things all freaking weekend, and at about 8:30 tonight I just couldn't take it anymore. So, I grabbed this recipe off of allrecipes and was thrilled to see that I had all of these ingredients. Even had Special Dark Dutch Process cocoa, which, yeah, came out freaking awesome. I nixed the walnuts and used approx. 1/2 cup of chopped pecans instead, along with about 1/4 cup of semisweet chocolate chip morsels and I piped some warmed up and hence gooey apple dipping caramel on the tops to make a kind of turtle brownie. Also used a sling of parchment paper in the 9x13 pan so they could de-pan easily. They actually had to bake for around 35 minutes (eta: between 35 and 40?, until a toothpick inserted in the middle came out clean), but they came out really good, half-way between gooey and cake-y. Mmm.

In other news, some brilliant people have been at work on my stories, because I got two remixes!

A brave remixer took on Expectation and Maximization with Not So Local Maximum (the Only Constant Remix) and gave it a bittersweet but still hopeful coda with Rose after Doomsday, looking for some connection to her old life in maths. Plus, there is AU Sarah Jane!

And secondly, another wonderful remixer took There Ain't No Good Chain Gang, my "Rygel used as currency" Rygel ficathon piece, and gave us a wonderful look at things from the desk of one Investigator Ryoda of the Sionian Internal Revenue Service. I direct you to One for the Road (Gangbusters Remix). Oh, I love it. One thing that I think is really hard to do is to remix humor pieces, oddly enough, but this remixer came through in spades, because this had me grinning like an idiot. I love how the Sionians are brought to life here. Bravo :)

Rh, Do you have the recipe for Whisky's famous "Mexican" brownies? I'm totally craving them right now. If you don't have it, I'll see if she remembers how to make them.

I added cayenne (use any hot red pepper) -- like a half teaspoon -- and about a full tablespoon of cinnamon. I mixed caramel ice cream topping with vanilla frosting for dulce de leche icing, which came out soupy. Serving them with dulce de leche ice cream would probably taste better and be neater to eat.

Just got a new oven over here, and tested it out with this.

Sides and bottom were wonderful. Unfortunately, the middle was still a gooey mass of batter. Will have to try again, maybe leave it in a bit longer.
