One more remix-y drabble-y thing to write! One more! And oh yeah, I've totally written enough words in the four stories I've done so far to have done the full-length remix redux, but ah well. Short stories are fun, yo!
In other news,
I saw Doctor Who 4x01: Partners in Crime Yesterday. Twice even! And at the end of the first viewing I was basically just a happy little vibrating ball of squee. It was so much fun! I had seen the Adipose genesis scene earlier and was leery that it was going to be a cracktastic RTD-crazy-fest, but in comparison with, eg, New Earth, it actually made more sense. I loved Donna and her Granddad, thought Mum was oh, way too much of a stereotype but hopefully she'll get toned down in later eps, loved Donna's Mime at meeting the Doctor, but if I was supposed to understand what she was saying after the first few sentences... ummm, she lost me. Heh, but I'm saved by the Confidential because there's a shot of the script, so for those who don't speak Tate!Mime, it was something to the effect of: "I came here, trouble, read about it, on the internet, I thought, trouble = you! And this place is weird! Pills! So I hid. Back there. Crept along. Heard this lot. Looked. You! Cos they... (at which point she finally notices Miss Foster noticing them).
Still, I laughed like a madwoman at that scene. I thought most of the humor was well-done, loved the Alien Supernanny, and whoa I thought the Adiposian babies were freakazoid bizarre. Loved Stacy's reaction to them in the sink, just a bewildered, "What are you???" ha! Um, for the record, I would have no desire to own a plush one just for the connotation that this thing is living human fat, thankyouverymuch. Still, it was funny in the Confidential (yeah, watched that too last night), listening to RTD read out the stage descriptions for that Stacy-turns-to-Adipose-babies scene. I just love how he describes them in the script from the Confidential: "Back in Stacy's bathroom she's boggling, looking down as her skin stretches out-- nothing actually breaking through, no broken skin or blood, instead the stretching skin is whitening and smoothly dividing off, and a lump plops free, as Stacy's standing by the sink and this thing just plops down into the bowl and her stomach twangs back to normal, and the lump is an Adipose, standing in the sink bowl like a bag of sugar, with little arms and legs, little black dots, little mewling mouth-- (room finally devolves into laughter as Rusty loses it)-- I should've brought one with me, you should see, it's marvelous-- like a soft toy, and it's waving its little stumpy arms, and Stacy's just boggling!"
(Looking at the actors' reactions in this bit in the Confidential is too, too funny-- check out Sarah Lancashire's hugely expanding "I don't believe this!" grin as Rusty continues to read, and Catherine Tate's befuddled look like "OMG what did I get into!??")
Anyway, I loved Donna saving the day with her second capsule, and lots of racing and chasing and omg, the taxi smushing several of the baby Adiposians, how macabre! I also liked the end too, though the "you want to mate!" joke was a bit forced, it was generally still a good show (plus, "you have a... hat box?", ha!). Also, hello Rose Tyler! Didn't think you were going to show up until later on but hey, there you are! The only thing I didn't like about that reveal was that they overdid the Rose Doomsday music there a lot. Still, intriguing. Why did she disappear? What's going on with reality here? Why are the bees disappearing (don't think I missed that, Rusty!) (and lol at "Oh that replica of the Titanic over Buckinham palace had to be a hoax!").
Loved the end, with the cheesy effects shot but still, Donna waving at her gramps and him dancing a hootenanny on the hill, wonderful! And next week looks splendid. I'm totally psyched. :) :) :) :)
I now return you to your regularly scheduled squee-free zones.
