Dark Angel Finale

Oh man, THAT'S IT!? Craaaaap, I really want to know what happens next!!! There's like, no um, made-for-TV movie around that I might not have heard of or anything, is there? Comic books maybe? Something?? Aaaaaaack!

Damn.

Joshua painting the flag at the beginning of Freak Nation totally made me cry. And way to go for making me like Normal too-- he came through! I knew he was a stand-up guy, even if he was a square ;)

Anyway, I think they did a pretty good job with season 2. The last two episodes (three I suppose, if you count Freak Nation as a two-parter which I think it was, it seemed long) seemed to speed up the storytelling a bit, but actually I thought that in the confines of a series cut short in which they couldn't wrap everything up that they wanted to, they found a good place to leave the story. I actually like the old cult storyline, and I kinda wish we'd been able to learn who Sandeman really was, and heck, even what happened to Lydecker and his merry band-- I bet they totally would have come back in season 3. In a way, season two was a very different show from season 1, but I thoroughly enjoyed them both and am sad they didn't get a chance to continue :(

There are three follow up books (which I own because I was crazy for some new Dark Angel canon) and at least 2 of them are pretty good, mostly. That last book is just, well you get the sense at times that the guy writing it only worked from transcripts of the show.

The books are called: Before the Dawn, Skin Game and After the Dark all by Max Allan Collins.

It ended with such a cliffhanger! I think that's one of the reason there's so much fanfic for that show.

I hear there were tie in books, but they were kinda crappy and they're hard to find. I looked at my local library after seeing the finale, and they didn't have it. I wasn't quite willing to cough up 9 bucks for a book that the general public deemed "bad."

Heh, I kinda already ordered them through Amazon ;) I don't mind forking over some cash for crappy books-- I at one point owned every single Star Trek: The Next Generation Novel that had been made up to that time (1994-ish?). ;)

I saw one of them at an airport bookstore and I was sorely tempted. If it wasn't for my limited cash flow, I'd probably have caved.

I must know what happens to ALEC! (And Original Cindy, and Normal, and possible Joshua... I really never liked Max even though she SHOULD have been my favorite character.)
