omg it's almost finished!

Last night I finished hand-sewing the bias tape on the bodice/skirt seam. It is another Frankenhem, and there's only a teensy bit of duct tape involved, but it's done! I also pressed up the hem, cut it to 1.5 inches and clean-finished the raw edge (which took me longer than I'd thought because my bobbin ran out of thread halfway through and I didn't realize it, darn it!). So all I have to do for the dress is slipstitch the hem in place, and add the trim and buttons. I am on the middle of the second-to-last step in the pattern! Just half of step 39 and then step 40 to go. Tonight I'm going to (hopefully, if I have time) mock it up with both the lace and the gimp trim I got at Jo-Ann's yesterday, and see which I like better. I might put it up to a vote, though I will hold veto power. I'm also going to stop by either Marshall's or Good will or something and see if I can get a cheap Zombie Prom dress. This, plus the dress I just made (heh) increases the number of dresses I own by 200%. :)

Yay, progress! I love that "there's only a teensy bit of duct tape involved." I hate hems with a burning passion, next time I'm definitely trying duct tape.

Had this sudden mental image of you going somewhere like a wedding or a funeral and realizing a dress would be appropriate. "Oh, dear. Let's see... zombie prom, renaissance fishpire or 50's zombie?"
