Holy shit

CNN article on Ancient Aztec Whistles of Death. I listened to the example track (the link in the text near the bottom of the picture), and I had my headphones on pretty loud, and the first one scared the crap out of me so much it dumped seven tons of adrenaline into my alligator brain and I literally tore my headphones out of my ears. Maybe part of that reaction was surprise and decibels too but... *shudders* I'm going to have to wait a while before going to sleep now...

Heh; I have a CD around here of a reconstruction of classical Roman music, Synaulia (http://www.soundcenter.it/synauliaeng.htm). The first volume is all brass and wind instruments, one of the most horrifying things I've ever listened to.

There's something about wind instruments that makes them inherently creepy, I think. Especially when you're trying to reconstruct the original noise.

Some of those sounds are incredibly creepy!

Wow, some of those were terrifying! They certainly freaked out my cat, too.

I will most definitely have to use those samples in a song. Brilliant.

When I read this I immediately thought of you.
