We have molds!

23 pictures or so starting here (and featuring the lovely instigator and co-conspirator [livejournal.com profile] auntiemeesh who started this whole idea rolling): http://pics.livejournal.com/eve11/pic/0009236f/g38

I'm glad these came out; I was worried that the molds wouldn't de-mold. There was also the problem of my mold (the first one) leaking like a mofo after we poured the plaster. The basement floor is now, um, reinforced, there.

*bows before the costuming goddess*

These look great! My D*C costuming marathon is wrapping up - I had to make some decisive compromises but the end results will hopefully look good.

I love balsa wood - makes for a light and easily sculpted sword, so D'Argo will have a qualta blade. I am using a sheet of thin craft foam to make a chest piece with the tattoo for under the robe - kind of a quick and dirty solution but hopefully it will look good.

After failing to find craft foam that was thick enough for armor for my Persian immortal, I have resigned myself to using dull silver foam board, painted at all cut edges. Not ideal, but the armor plates are thin enough that I can get away without curved pieces. For the arm and hip armor I'm going to strap sheets of black craft foam to myself with velcro straps.

Argh...need more time.... ;-)

Sweet! I have never seen the process it takes for one of these. Thanks for the pics. :)

Phenomenal!

I bow before you, as I go back to my comparatively crude cobblings that will someday pass for a Tusken Raider costume.

Very intersting! I've been thinking of doing a Cat costume but based on those little feline appliances that some costume stores sell: http://www.halloweendirect.com/index.html?target=p_669.html&lang=en-us I really don't have the space to do something messy like moulding but i think that with some careful painting I can get it to work.
