I love that it's in chronological order, and that Zhaan is there - I wasn't expecting her to be.
It took a lot of thinking -- I ruminated for oh, four days or so, with #1 written and no further ideas beyond which characters I wanted to appear. I cheated a bit on the chronological order, because I rearranged the word counts. On the others I actually put them in the order the random number generator spit them out, but this one was telling a larger story.
From the first words you had me sniffling, but the last one destroyed me, as it's so close to my own personal vision of how that scene goes.
*melts* #5 is why I was up so late two nights ago. The idea hit me and I jotted down a version of the "You may wonder" line Sunday afternoon. I wasn't sure if I'd be able to tell this story because I was in the confines of 16 squared (256) words. The first draft clocked in over 100 words too long, but I was determined to make it work without losing any of the story. Which I think I did, so I'm pretty proud of it :) Thanks again for the seed of the idea. I'm very glad you liked it, and the others too.
