Well, I'm not too worried about the adverbs, especially in breezy humor pieces. But a little goes a long way with them.
Back when I wrote this, I didn't even think twice about the term "boom box" (although Google search informs me it is actually one word). It's a bit archaic and, I suppose, regional. And I did not have time for a BritPick. "Tape player" to me is more the singular thing (sans radio). I guess Boombox radio may have worked, or just radio, or radio tape player, or stereo... Ah, who knows!
We still have a big old portable stereo with a tape and CD and radio player that we use... generally I bring it to whatever house we are working on cleaning, and use it to listen to baseball games on the radio. I really should join the 21st century and get a speaker for my phone, and some music apps. I probably will at some point.
Glad you enjoyed the commentary! I had fun with it :)
